The winemaking tradition of Torremilanos dates back to 1903, although it is in 1975 when the Peñalba Lopez family acquired the estate.
Convinced of the quality of our autochthonous grape, the Tempranillo variety and experts in the art of viticulture, Pablo Peñalba decides to increase the number of own vineyards until reaching the 200 hectares that the family owns today. in day. All of them are located in the mountains close to the winery and are cared for following a philosophy of respect for the environment that allows certifying all the wines from the Torremilanos winery as organic.
The quality of the grapes, the soil, the climate, the own cooperage and the special conditions of the winery ensure optimal aging and the quality of our wines.

The name of Torremilanos given to this part of Monte de Castrillo could have come from the tower that was left standing of an old guard castle that watched from the heights an extensive surface on the banks of the Duero
When the castle was in disuse, the tower could be nested by kites and receive the name from there.
The winemaking history of Torremilanos starts in 1903, when Calixto Seijas Ruiz Zorrilla inherits the land, used until then for sheep grazing and the first vines are planted.
In the following years, Calixto Seijas Ruiz Zorrilla, began to think that to carry out his project of having a large wine farm, bottling was not enough. At that time, the winery and its own wineries began to be projected
FROM 1975: THE GOLDEN AGE OF TORREMILANOS
In April 1975 the purchase agreement was signed between Calixto Seijas Ruiz Zorrilla and Pablo Peñalba, a person who came from a family with tight economic resources but with enormous enterprising mentality and some of the pioneers in the Denomination of Origin Ribera del Duero.
This is how the “new era” of Finca Torremilanos was born, with an estate of 32 hectares destined for vineyards and another 20 hectares destined to farmland. After a great work of sanitation, modernization and replanting, the equilibriums that Pablo Peñalba considered the ideal ones to achieve the personality he wanted to print to the wines of his brand, Torremilanos, were achieved. During the following years, Pablo Peñalba acquired adjoining land to increase the size of the farm.
In 1979 the first winery was built with a bottling plant. Work that ended in 1982 and that allowed that from the year 1980, the harvest was elaborated in that first winery without leaving the farm or resorting to external companies
FROM THE 1980s TO THE PRESENT DAY: MODERNITY AND TRADITION IN RIBERA DEL DUERO
Starting in the 1980s, the owners of Finca Torremilanos, the Peñalba family, bet definitively on technology as a tool to grow and adjust to the times that were to come. Going ahead inluso to wineries most famous in La Rioja, new facilities were installed in the winery that included steel tanks, a bottling train and facilities with characteristics that made it the only winery in Castilla y León to receive the designation of origin Cava .
From that moment until today, Finca Torremilanos has continued betting on quality without ever forgetting its roots and has consolidated its presence and prestige, both in the national and international markets. The entrepreneurial mentality of Pablo Peñalba allowed that now, in the actuality, the results have given him the reason with the recognition of his work by all the wine experts.
A story that began more than 100 years ago … and that has only just begun.
